This test is for the Social Studies (7–12) (CQ) endorsement. It is for candidates seeking certification in the 7–12 grade band. Registration is now open for testing starting on June 8, 2026.

NOTE: Both the Social Studies (7–12) test and a Professional Knowledge and Skills test (117, 121, 135, 136) are required to obtain the CQ endorsement for initial certification. Any questions about testing and endorsements can be directed to the Michigan Department of Education.

Format

Computer-based test (CBT)
100 multiple-choice questions

Time

2 hours and 45 minutes total appointment time

15 minutes for CBT tutorial and nondisclosure agreement
2 hours and 30 minutes testing time

By appointment year-round, Monday through Saturday (excluding some holidays), starting June 8, 2026
