Formula for Determining Section Scores

Scaled Score equals 240 + 60 times (raw minus cut over max minus cut)

  • Raw = achieved score on the test section.
  • Max = maximum possible score on the test section, i.e., the total number of points that an examinee could earn on a test section.
  • Cut = the number of points determined as constituting adequate performance on the test section.
  • For the multiple-choice section, "raw," "max," and "cut" are expressed as a number of multiple-choice questions.
  • For the constructed-response section, "raw," "max," and "cut" are expressed as a number of holistic score points.
  • For each test section, an unrounded scaled score value is computed, with a floor of 100 applied.
