ABOUT THE MTTC

What's New in 2008–2009?

Reporting of Passing Scores

Beginning with the October 18, 2008, test administration, numeric total test scores will be reported only for examinees who do not pass the tests. This is to prevent the scores of those who pass from being used for purposes other than credentialing (e.g., employment, assignment). Your official score report will indicate your passing status for each test taken. If you have not passed the test, your numeric score will be reported to you to help you prepare to retake the test. If you have passed the test, the numeric score will not be reported. An indication of performance in each subarea, or section, of the test will be provided for all examinees.

New and Redeveloped Tests

The following subject-area tests were updated or developed and will be implemented as of October 2008: Autism Spectrum Disorder (064) (formerly called Autistic), Emotional Impairment (059) (formerly called Emotionally Impaired), English as a Second Language (086), German (024), and the new field of Chinese (Mandarin) (101).

The Michigan Department of Education (MDE) endorsement areas and codes are available for examinee reference in a PDF document on the MDE Web site at http://www.michigan.gov/documents/EndorsementAreas&CodesA60660_74341_7.PDF. The two-letter endorsement code corresponding to an MTTC test appears next to that test in “Test Selection.”

Be sure you are taking the correct test for your endorsement. If you need assistance determining your endorsement or the test you should take, contact your advisor or\ the certification officer at your institution.
